5 Unbelievable Stories from Escape Room Arlington

Every escape room has its stories, and customers will never run out of new and inventive “strategies” for escaping the room. We at the best escape room in Arlington have had our share of fun and memorable moments. From birthday party ideas to teambuilding activities, we’ve seen it all. In three years of adventures, these stories stand out the most:

Honorable Mention: Proposals

We’ve had the honor of hosting four proposals at our location. Each one has been extremely cute and a very fun event for us. There’s not much to elaborate here because all of the proposals were great successes! Two couples had us play videos in the room, two couples had us swap out clues for clues that were themed around the proposal, and all four of them said yes! If you’re looking for a proposal idea and your significant other likes escape rooms, we might be the way to go! That said…

1. The Break-Up at Escape Room Arlington

The most memorable story for me was when we had two groups of four playing Supervillains together. As we were about to start the room, one of the couples in one of the groups very loudly interrupted the rules spiel and broke up, with much scream-sobbing and high emotions. We shared several long seconds of awkward silence, and then we started the escape room without the newly-broken-up couple to give them some time to process their new relationship situation. After about ten minutes of fighting in the lobby, the couple walked back into the room and they proceeded to play as though nothing had happened!

2. Escape Reality

We once had a group come in after a happy hour at William Jeffrey’s Tavern next door, and one woman decided the couch in our Secret in the Attic room looked comfortable. She immediately laid down on this couch before the room started, napped for the hour, and woke up just in time to escape after her teammates had done all the work. There’s something to be said for having reliable friends!

3. Bringing the Essentials

We can plan for most things in our room design, but we don’t always plan for when customers bring outside items. We’ve had many kids birthday parties book with us, which are usually a great time. We once, though, had a dad bring his own red herring clues to distract his daughter and her friends. The dad was thrilled, but I’m not positive the daughter was. We had another customer once come prepared with a whole kit of what he imagined were escape-room-essentials – we weren’t too happy to discover he had brought and was using his own magnets to solve puzzles. Leave the magnets and screwdrivers at home please!

4. Research Before the Date

On two different occasions, we’ve had a couple play a room and have a great time, only for the man to come back and play the same exact room with a new date! The first time it happened we were shocked, but by the second time we had already seen it and were more just disappointed. If you’re thinking of trying this “trick” to impress a date, let me warn you – it didn’t work so well for these “clever” men. The second dates on both occasions were annoyed that he solved the puzzles too quickly. Look, if you do this, we won’t tell your new date, but we will judge you from the control room.

5. Is there an “H” in Christmas?

An unnamed employee once shouted down the hall to ask if there was an “H” in the word “Christmas”. After a quick yes, we later discovered this box in the back storage:
